The Renewable Energy Standard Form is designed to assist planning officers in understanding and assessing the renewable energy strategies submitted by developers.
Energy statements come in such a diversity of formats that it is becoming very difficult for planners to take a consistent approach to assessing them. CEN has developed a form that developers can complete and submit alongside their energy statements, giving planners all the information they require to assess compliance.
The process is simple:
- Planners ask developers to visit this webpage and download the form here
Renewable Energy Standard Form
Instructions: please save a copy on your computer and ensure that the security level (in Tools/Macro/Security) is set to medium. Please note that the form needs to be completed electronically rather than as a printout as it contains automated fields.
- Developers will then draw together all the pieces of information needed to complete the form (general site details, energy efficiency, decentralised and renewable energy) and submit the form to the planning officer alongside the energy statement.
Checklist and training
We have produced an accompanying checklist for planners assessing the forms, to help them understand whether the technical data submitted conforms broadly to industry benchmarks.
We can also provide training sessions for planners on how to use the form.
For more information on the above, or to access a copy of the checklist, please call our Sustainable Energy Support Line on 0845 678 0677 or e-mail energy@cen.org.uk
