Putting the Fun Back into Education

CEN strives to ensure that educational projects it delivers are replicable, relevant to school curricula, but most of all informative and fun for everyone involved.

We offer a number of activities with which the teachers and pupils can become involved, including assemblies/quizzes on energy efficiency and renewable energy, themed poster competitions with prizes such as solar powered radios, school home energy surveys and ready prepared home energy resource packs provided by the EST (Energy Matters Pack).

Solar Car Challenge

In the summer of 2004 CEN obtained funding from Pfizer, the Government Office of the South East and the Kent Local Authorities to run a solar car challenge competition throughout Kent in which children of Key Stage 2 age constructed and raced mini solar powered cars in intra-borough competitions.

STOP PRESS: This funding has now been extended for 2005!

The Kent Solar Car Challenge was ran again this year by Kent Energy
Centre, following a very successful pilot in 2004. To read more about it click below:

Poster Competitions

CEN regularly runs poster competitions for school children, which accompany lessons and assemblies which focus on issues surrounding sustainable energy. Pictures of some of the posters will appear here soon!
