The scope of NI186 is very wide, covering domestic, business and transport emissions. CEN can provide a variety of support services to assist attainment of this indicator.

Domestic services
Official monitoring of NI 186 is available only after a two year delay. In addition, knowing how to target households is a key consideration.
To address these issues CEN offers a sophisticated data collation and modelling process which collects all available housing data in one central place. This is used to collate or model energy characteristics for every home in the borough. This allows very sophisticated targeting, as well as an ‘up to the minute’ estimate of per capita domestic CO2.
CEN also has wide experience of design and implementation of domestic energy projects specified by local authorities.

Business services
CEN’s Carbon Support Package for businesses is designed to ensure that our clients maximise both the bottom-line and environmental benefits of improved performance. The Package comprises four stages:

  • Carbon Snapshot
    Specialist software is used to rapidly estimate the baseline Carbon Footprint of the business.
  • Carbon Review
    Environmental performance is compared to industry benchmarks. Potential cost and carbon savings in the areas of Energy, Transport, Water, and Waste are identified.
  • Carbon Action
    Clear priorities and targets for reducing costs and carbon emissions established. Expert advice and support is provided to ensure momentum is maintained and business benefits realised.
  • Carbon Communicate
    CSR policy and marketing materials are reviewed, Potential Community Carbon Reduction Projects investigated, and a formal CSR and Communications Strategy is developed and implemented.

Strategic consultancy
CEN runs a strategic consultancy service to assist a local authority to identify areas for activity across its remit where CO2 savings are possible.
