Action to Reduce Carbon

Council's often have privileged positions in the community as a local employer, a manager of a number of properties in its own estate and a custodial and influencing role over the wider community and housing agenda. The opportunities offered by this privileged position are vast, and the carbon savings created through reduced energy usage could be significant if approached in a structured way.

CEN offers consultancy services to local authorities to develop a recommended plan of activity to enhance the role of the authority towards energy reduction and therefore carbon management. It offers a structured approach focusing on the areas:

  • Private sector housing
  • The council's own estate
  • The wider community
  • Planning
  • Social housing
  • Transport

The process provides an impetus to ensure a real step change in progress towards reducing carbon emissions that are generated through energy use, and while the plan primarily comments on carbon reduction through energy use, it can also addresses affordable warmth in the domestic sector.

CEN has completed several carbon management projects in London and the South East. We are able to present specific examples of our work in this area upon request.
